As you can see my header image has changed, and is actually the new logo for my blog. I love it. It looks a lot more professional than my dodgy attempt, which was a 20 minute job completed on the ever skilful paint. That’s about as far as my graphic design skills go.
What does my new logo have to do with networking I hear you ask? Well, it was designed for me by a good friend of mine who I went to high school with. This was purely coincidental that I know someone so talented right within my social circle; however, I can’t stress enough how important it is to network.
Breaking the barriers of insecurity and shyness, and just putting yourself out there. Even if it means cold calling companies, attending scary large corporate events alone. Whatever is involved, if it will further your career – do it!
I’m so glad I put myself out there, because it has allowed me to be able to have the amazing opportunity to write for www.reallyree.com. Which gives me the chance to review beauty products and great exposure as a blogger / journalist. Just simply making the effort to speak to another blogger at an event, she gave me some advice (she’s been in the game a while and she’s absolutely lovely, unlike some of the other bloggers who can be pretentious). I followed her advice, I make the effort to write my reviews promptly, and promote the products – on top of a 40 hour working week by the way. But without hard work, success doesn’t buy itself!
Having Vanessa to hand to help design my new logo really helped me remember that it’s so so mandatory in today’s ever changing world to build strong working relationships. I needed a talented graphic designer and I will most certainly be using her again for future designs.
Honestly building bridges will be your path to where you need to be. Help others, be nice and you will be rewarded.
