January Beauty Favourites & Skincare resolutions 2019

It’s 2019, it’s a new year – which can only mean new skincare and new beauty products!

This January I have found three cult products that are easing the pain of possibly the longest month of my life! Broke, post fat from Christmas binging, plus added societal pressure to have a ‘fresh start to the year’. And that’s another point also; I love finding products that not only work for me on a functionality basis, but also products that make me feel good. Mental health and well-being are of utmost importance and I feel pampering myself, and taking the time out to do so is imperative to my core happiness.

My skin and I have a relentless, ongoing battle. Which is undecidedly not helped by the fact I am constantly reviewing different products. However, the older I get and the more I learn about my skin and how it reacts to specific ingredients, I find I have more control than ever over its condition.

Here are my three favourite products of the month:

1. Gucci Bamboo EDT, 30ml, £49

I am a huge perfume fanatic. And because I have been attempting to save money it’s been a very long time since I treated myself to a designer perfume. I’ve been scraping by on my good ole Missguided babe cans for the longest. This perfume is great for the new year, it’s woody and floral. Notes of Italian Bergamot, Tahitian Vanilla & Deep Sandalwood exude a sensual and enticing scent that unfolds over several hours.

2. Drops of Light Pure Healthy Brightening Eye cream, 15ml, £20

I have the absolute worst and most dismal under eye circles, and this cream genuinely helps. The appearance of dark circles is visibly brightened from the very first use! The cream contains brightening Red Algae Extract, which is rich in Vitamin C, minerals and nutrients. First class recommendation for anyone wanting to revitalise the under eye area.

3. Soap & Glory Vitamin C facial wash, 50ml, £8 (for 350ml)

Due to the frustrating battle I have with my skin on a daily basis, it’s difficult to find a facial wash that I bond with. I have oily patches, dry patches plus recurrent acne. I’m not fond of extremely astringent washes, because they dry out the skin. I have found the Vitamin C facial wash (which is a 3 in 1 killer face wash) is gentle enough to exfoliate & reveal a revitalising glow, without leaving skin tight and dry. A great daily wash that leaves skin feeling fresh (it also smells fresh as a daisy).

Because of my ever increasing obsession with skincare (and aforementioned ongoing battle!), I’m going to list my skincare resolutions for the new year below:

1. Professional help

After all these years of battling against my skin, I’ve realised I need to work with what I have. In 2019, I want to have more professional facials which I believe will be extremely beneficial to the overall condition of my skin.

2. Consistency is the key

Determining which products my skin reacts well to is imperative, and implementing a routine daily. (It’s hard for me to establish a routine when I constantly have to review items!!). Ensuring this routine is followed always.

3. Moisture up

I recently got a moisture monitor, which is essentially a battery powered device that measures the moisture in any given piece of skin it is placed upon. The lack of moisture in some places on my face really did shock me. I’ve realised, especially before sleeping that perhaps one moisturiser is not enough. I’m now using a Toner / Lotion, serum, moisturiser & sleeping mask (two moisturisers one after the after). Moisture is especially important in the colder months, and helps to prevent premature ageing.

Happy Skincare 2019!

Oh no!! That’s not good at all. It must be quite harsh to skin

The eye cream sounds like something I would love (have the worst dark circles in the world 😂). Thank you for sharing ❤💞
