L’Oréal Kérastase Blond Absolu Shampoo and Conditioner Review

As part of #GlamourBeautyClub I received this Kérastase Blond Absolu shampoo and conditioning masque. It’s part of their new range aimed specifically at blondes, whether coloured bleached or natural – all the products will enhance colour and repair damage.

Initially, I was so pleased as I love targeted hair care which aims to combat brassiness. Anyone with coloured blonde hair will be aware that yellow brassy tones can rear their ugly heads at the most inconvenient of times.

Considering these are sample sizes, the sizes are really decent. The shampoo is 80ml and the conditioning masque is 200ml (the masque is actually full size so I am extremely impressed!).

How do they perform?

I have used Kérastase products in the past because of their salon quality, it’s just what you need for coloured, dry hair. But this new range is aimed specifically at blonde hair that suffers from dryness, brassiness and general damage. The mask in particular is purple, like many of the toners that can give you that icy white look. I always use the Provoke one to maintain my icy blonde.

I decided one night that I’d give these products a go at the same time. The Bain lumière shampoo smells nice, and leaves hair soft without stripping away any moisture. The shampoo works well with the masque, as this shampoo is not the direct colouring one. This shampoo aims to hydrate and illuminate blonde hair.

However, the star of the show here really is the ultra-violet masque. It contains hyaluronique (because what is any beauty product these days without hyaluronic acid in some form!?), and edelweiss. Edelweiss, in case you weren’t sure, is a rare precious flower found in the Swiss alps. Generally used in skincare for its nourishing properties, it is contained in this masque and I have no doubt it is ultra nourishing for hair also.

The masque does add colour to your hair so you must be careful, use sparingly. It left my hair shiny blonde, and what I mean by that is that my colour was not only enhanced – it was like a keratin salon treatment had been applied. It felt very healthy, and I’m looking forward to the next use.

For anyone with highlights or coloured blonde hair I’d really recommend this range. With anti brass technology the products enhance your colour, and repair damage from dye / bleach or even heat.
