I can scarcely believe that it’s been about three years since I have worn a full coverage foundation! Everyday I wear a bb cream mixed with a light Lottie of London foundation, giving a natural light coverage.
I recently decided that for going out (out out) and special occasions it would be a decent idea to have a full coverage foundation in my make up wardrobe. I used to wear full coverage daily, but I realised that the heaviness of it clogged my pores, and that isn’t beneficial for acne prone skin at all. Since I switched to a bb cream my skin seems calmer.
I’ve always had a soft spot for Chanel make up and perfume (I’ll always remember the time I went up to their counter and just purchased literally everything I wanted, we won’t talk about the financial repercussions – it was a really good day just not for my bank account). So I thought that buying a foundation from a brand I trust, and have used foundations from in the past would be a wise.
A few weekends ago I purchased the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow foundation, which contains SPF 25. It protects from environmental damage, with a formulation to adapts to your skin and gives a flawless finish. Kalanchoe extract help to protect the skin from harsh environmental aggressors, whilst a Hyaluronic Acid derivative comfortably hydrates skin.
How does it perform?
The first time I used the foundation, a few weekends back I absolutely adored it!
It smells lovely and fresh, and the texture is soft yet light, very silk like. The texture reminds me of a silk skirt, and the smell is just as luxurious.
Furthermore, even though the coverage is medium to full, it does not feel heavy in the slightest. For me personally, I have light acne scarring so for going out purposes I’d like a fair amount of coverage. The foundation gave enough coverage and my skin looked glowing – without looking like I have an excessive amount of make up suffocating my skin!
The longevity was impressive too, I was out for a good few hours and when I returned home my make up was as fresh as ever.
Overall I am impressed with this foundation, the texture and coverage are amazing. I even think that the price at £40 (standard price for high end foundations anyhow) is justified by the quality of the product, and I’ll only be using it for going out so it will last me a long while. I would recommend this to anyone searching for a high quality foundation with decent coverage. I’d give it 8/10.
