Three Health Benefits of Green Tea

At times I really crave a green or herbal tea, I’m an avid everyday coffee drinker – but there is just something much more soothing and regenerative about green tea. And it’s not just because of the bitter sweet taste, green teas are great for detoxing. In fact drinking them has several positive effects on your overall health. Green tea contains many nutrients and antioxidants it’s no wonder it is good for us!

I’ve recently discovered this cherry blossom green tea by Harney & Sons, gifted to me by The Coffee Mate. I have always been a fan of cherry blossom, it smells just so fresh and floral without being over bearing. Making it the perfect flavour for a green tea, it has a hint of sweetness which is a naturally fruity taste rather than sugary. It is refreshing and I would highly recommend it! Plus the tin can be recycled as a pretty storage tin for the kitchen as it looks pink and quaint.

Here are the main benefits of drinking green tea;

1. Anti-septic and Anti-inflammatory

Green tea contains large amounts of polyphenols which is an anti-inflammatory, i generally use green tea to settle my stomach and this is a great life tip. It is also anti-septic, which means it can help hoard off bacteria from your mouth and lessen the risk of infection.

2. Beneficial for Dieting, Fat-burning

Many fat burning supplements contain green tea, the caffeine content has been proven to improve physical performance by mobilising fatty acids from the fat tissues and making them available as energy (Healthline, 2019).

3. Treat Acne

In addition to drinking green tea, you can also introduce it to your skincare routine! You can make use it as a quick pick me up, by brewing it for ten minutes and then rubbing the cooled teabag over your face. This can reduce redness, brighten your complexion and help to fight acne. If you would prefer to have it as a toner (I personally think the green tea smell is super fresh and love it in skincare), you can use the leftover green tea and add tea tree oil. You can store this mixture in a glass jar or such, and it will be great at treating acne or brightening the complexion due to the natural antioxidants in green tea.

Green Tea on The Go

Even if you live a hectic life, it’s easy to introduce regular green tea drinking. I was gifted this pretty gold reusable Asobu bottle, which keeps the tea warm for up to 12 hours. This is so brilliant for many of us who are always on the go! On another note, I have been searching for this type of bottle for a while due to the environmental benefits. Single use plastics are no good – whereas once you buy a bottle you can clean and reuse for years.
