Aadnevik is a name in fashion synonymous with femininity; a London based atelier that dresses celebrities alike. The brand was created by Kristian Aadnevik, and is now a design partnership between himself and wife, Hila Aadnevik. Basing their entire brand on values such as family tradition, passion and hard work. With made to measure bespoke pieces available, attention to detail and accentuating the female form have become key characteristics to Aadnevik pieces.

You can imagine my sheer excitement when I was asked last week to attend Aadnevik’s SS19 show for LFW. On behalf of The Beauty Guild Gazette I had been granted backstage access, and a ticket to the main fashion show. I tried to act all coy about it, but truth be told this was my very first fashion show in the flesh! Within my mind I had been attending them since I was a little girl. Aimlessly sitting for hours watching Versace runway shows, fingering my way through Vogue magazines and designing my own stylistic dresses (that were basically huge squares with bows on). This was a huge tick off of my life bucket list.

How was my first fashion show at LFW?

As mentioned I had backstage access, I managed to gather some half decent pictures on my iPhone. Moroccan oil were doing the hair styles on the models, and the look was very natural. The idea was to juxtapose innocent, natural waves with the sensuality of the dresses and fierce eye make up. Think of a grown up sexy version of Alice in Wonderland.

You can see all the models had their hair plaited, with heat applied to help the waves have extra staying power. Then, products were ran through the hair as the plaits were let out. Revealing loose waves that anyone could obtain.

The eye make up was a bold blue, reminiscent of mermaid eye make up. Ethereal feels all round. The entire collection was inspired by Alice in Wonderland, and this theme flowed throughout.

The dresses were nothing short of absolutely beautiful. Lace, leather, sheer, silk. The epitome of luxurious, with a hint of enchantment.

Overall I loved the excitement of the runway. Watching the stunning models seamlessly saunter up and down in these opulent pieces, I was in fashion heaven. Yes fashion shows are hectic. Yes they usually run late and have crowds squeezed into one tiny room with sweat dripping your back. Is the actual show worth all of this? Yes. It certainly was. And this will not be my last visit to London Fashion Week.

T3 Cura New Hairdryer Launch

T3 is a prime example of a brand that exhibits a beauty meets tech mantra. Launched in the sunny, glamorous and health conscious LA, T3 have pioneered luxury hair tools that incorporate uses of innovative technologies.

The launch of their new Cura hairdryers conforms to this. The hairdryers use negative Ion technology in order to dry hair efficiently and without frizz, maintaining shine.

I was lucky enough to attend the launch of the new Cura hairdryers. And what a launch it was! I must say it was one of the best events I’ve been to in the industry.

The service from the hosts was impeccable, there was enough champagne and canapés to fill a 10 acre field, and I thought the concepts behind the brand were amazing.

It was almost as if whoever had organised this event had thought of every aspect. There was a popcorn machine, chilled bottles of Diet Coke in ice buckets, customised T3 cakes (with real cute miniature USA flags), a photo booth with professional lighting and air to flick your hair; plus professional stylists on hand to style attendees hair with the T3 tools. What more could you want from an event?!

So what makes the T3 Cura hairdryers so special?

Precise digitally controlled heat gives a personalised experience. The Cura has 3 heat settings, 2 speed settings, and a lock-in cool shot.

Personally I think one of the main reasons the Cura hairdryers are so successful is that they allow you to use heat responsibly. In the sense that you can dry your hair quickly with minimal damage. In fact, after testing the Cura myself I can confirm it left my hair feeling very soft and shiny.

Personally having over processed hair I try to avoid using heat on my hair. So when I am able to find tools and products that can accommodate my high maintenance hair – I’m over the moon about it.

After all, healthy hair is beautiful!

Missguided Boss Babe & Babe Dreams perfume launch & review

I’ve been writing for The Guild Gazette which is part of an editorial internship I am completing. I won’t lie, it’s a bit strange doing an internship at 25 years old, it almost feels like everybody around you is progressing and leaving you behind – however, sometimes the best things in life simply take time.

I enjoy every minute of it, writing is my passion and it never feels like work. Another aspect which I love is that I get much more scope when writing articles; The Guild Gazette is a beauty trade magazine. So the articles I write are less fluffy than consumer driven articles, they are more in depth, technical and aimed at a professional audience.

This week I attended Missguided’s new perfume launch on behalf of The Guild, along with Marketing & Editorial Executive Pippa Ward and the Editor of the magazine Rebecca Archer. It was an amazing experience all round. The girls are lovely (most of my writing is done remotely so actually being in their presence was a novelty!) and the launch was uplifting.

Missguided is known for being a sassy brand and their first perfume ‘Babe Power’ was the fastest selling perfume of summer 2017; I was wondering how they could possibly outdo this? The entire night was very pink, blurry (perhaps a few too many cocktails) and confident – words that epitomise the brand as a whole.

I know that Missguided actively promote positivity, this can be seen all over their social media and products alike. It can even come across rather cliche at times, they have really latched onto an array of millennial phrases that exert positivity.

However, I was very pleased to notice diversity at the perfume launch. It was at that point I realised this is a brand that sticks to their word. They talk about positivity, but they also substantiate that with action.

In terms of bloggers attending events and launches, I have personally noticed that unfortunately with some brands, you do not get a diverse range of ethnicities who are invited or attend. I’m glad that Missguided are not part of this. It made me have a new found respect for the brand. Diversity within the fashion and beauty industry needs to be celebrated and promoted as much as possible.

The Perfumes

The new perfumes are called ‘Babe Oud’, ‘Babe Dreams’ and ‘Boss Babe’.

Babe Oud – I smelt this briefly at the launch but didn’t get one to take home. It was a strong, musky scent. Perfect for evening wear and suitable for winter.

Boss Babe – This is my favourite of the three scents and has become my daily fragrance. A musky scent that is lighter than Babe Oud, with undertones of vanilla I love the juxtaposed sweetness with heavy musk. A heavier scent that manages to also be light enough for everyday use.

Babe Dreams – The sweetest of the three fragrances. This one is floral and dreamy, as the name suggests.

All the fragrances come in 80ml atomisers and will be available for purchase soon (dates not released yet!). Eek, exciting.

Beauty Blog Collective: an intro

As some of you may or may not know (I have mentioned briefly in the past), I used to write and review beauty products for Really Ree. However, a couple of weeks ago myself and the other contributors were sent a message explaining that Ree no longer wanted us to write for her. She was changing the direction of the website, and wanted to focus solely on her reviews. 

We had a fantastic time reviewing products for the site; receiving some amazing products and receiving exposure from one of the biggest beauty blogs in the UK! A truly great experience. 

After some consideration, we decided that we weren’t done with it. It wasn’t the end for us, seven of us decided to create our own beauty blog. Beauty Blog Collective is now up and running, at its humble beginnings just yet…but we’ve got amazing plans on the horizon. 

It’s really inspiring to work amongst such hard working women. We’re all extremely, terribly busy people – but we all seem to manage to find time to do what we love. Beauty is a passion that we share, and we’re all normal women. That is exactly what we aim to represent, different types of women who have a passion for beauty.

Missbeez – an innovative mobile beauty app

You’ve all heard about the recent disaster that is TFL refusing to renew Uber’s contract in London? Of course you have. 

But I’m not here to discuss that scandal. Uber is that reliable taxi every Londoner loves on a boozy night out. What could be more convenient than a taxi at your service at low prices? Uber changed the face is transpiration, I’m convinced there will be an entire  generation of people who do not possess driving licences. Simple because a hybrid mixture of public transport and Uber’s are much cheaper than driving in London. Uber tapped into an on demand market. 

So what’s even better than on demand transport? On demand make up and beauty services of course 😍. Missbeez is an app that encorporates just that. You pick the service which you desire, the app searches for relevant beauticians in your local area – you pick one, and you don’t need to pay until after the treatment is carried out. 

I recently had a full face of make up applied by one of their beauticians, all in the comfort of my own home. It’s a brilliant idea for busy individuals – you can book services at the drop of a hat. 


I would recommend this app to every avid beauty fan. You can pick from an array of salon services at regular prices, with the added benefit of not moving from your bedroom. 

Laziness, and beauty treatments on demand!? Sounds like a dream world to me! 

Pink Floyd: Their mortal remains, a review

They are just that band for me. And they always will be. I can sit here all day and describe to you in intense detail how they subverted the progressive rock genre, how they revolutionised album artwork, introduced light shows to music performances, and completely took the entire world by storm. 


The V & A exhibition: Their mortal remains is a complete testiment to the band. Firstly it is sponsored by Sennheiser, and attendants are given their own headphones for the exhibition. This was a nice touch, and allowed everyone to have a personalised, emotive journey – in typical Floyd style. 

It was arranged in chronological order, starting from the psychedelic 60’s; channelling the huge influence from the late Syd. This section was particularly emotional, Syds story is a sad one. A creative genius, who sadly took one too many LSD trips and never came back. This section consisted of a variety of their experimental stage pyschedelic album artwork, staged in trippy rooms that made you feel high as a kite and littered with artefacts left behind by Syd. Handwritten letters to his girlfriends, a picture of the bands first car (a Bedford, and of course much more). The highlight for me was a video interviewing the band and associates about Syd. When one guy broke down talking about him, it bought a tear to my eye. Syds section was tributary, emotionally provocative and trippy. Shine on you crazy diamond. 


Throughout the exhibition you can see many of the bands greatly recogniseable iconography. The inflatable pig from Animals, the teacher from The Wall, the heads from The Division Bell. Meanwhile you are hearing excerpts from every album as you move through room to room. 


The absolute ultimate point for me was the last room, the entire room was taken up by screens…and Comfortably Numb was playing – it was then2005 concert when The Floyd performed at Live 8. It really bought the concert atmosphere to the museum. 

I’d say this exhibition is worth the £25 admission fee. I felt more emotion visiting this exhibition than I have in the last year. It reiterated to me how much we must appreciate Pink Floyd, their music and the fundamental messages they were portraying. Because, as mentioned in the exhibition; so many of the critical themes explored (particular in Dark Side Of The Moon) are still relevant now for every new generation. Austerity, isolation, time as a concept, depression and harsh realities of everyday life – they all hold such resonance. 


 Progressive, atmospheric, thought provoking sheer genius, which is utterly timeless.  This is one exhibition not to be missed out on. 

Sessions by Kate Hughes; amazing pop-up make-up master-classes

I attended the website launch for ”Sessions by Kate Hughes”. What could be better than a professional make-up master-class that strips make-up artistry back down to basics AND travels to you and your friends!? Sessions by Kate Hughes is just that. It’s a pop up make-up academy which runs over a five day duration and the complexity of make-up skills taught increases daily. All you need to bring along is (your face obvs) and your own brushes!

Kate Hughes has been an established MUA for the last 30 years, and so this business is a natural progression. Armed with lovely business partner Zo, they are destined to become an amazing success.

More about the sessions

Seeing as professional make-up is provided, what particular brands are used? Kate herself has commented, ‘’although we love the high end brands, we want the classes to be accessible and affordable, Lord and Berry is a favourite of ours, and we use a lot of Mac and NYX’’.

Anyone with any level of skill can attend the classes; make-up artistry is stripped down to basics and re-taught. Everything from foundation application to contouring is covered. Kate also mentioned her brand is launching a make-up brush range soon – all beauty obsessives keep your eyes peeled.

What also sets aside Kate’s lessons from conventional master-classes, is that additionally you are taught raw business skills. Including how to pursue a career in make-up artistry, how to network your business online, social media management and more.

Lush red velvet cup-cakes with glitter lips, so fetch

However, what really made this event outstanding, (aside from the amazing red velvet cup-cakes with glittery lips on and Prosecco on tap), was the refreshing atmosphere. When attending a beauty event, there is often a misconception that the professionals in this industry are catty/bitchy. This event was nothing like that – everyone who attended was so humble and lovely. It was fantastic to see bloggers / MUA’s/ journalists all sharing ideas and complimenting one another. It was a real promotion to girl power and entrepreneurship. An absolutely inspirational event with a really uplifting feel, if you ever need your make-up skills brushing up – highly recommend Kate and her wonderful business partner Zo.
