Christian Dior Forever Undercover foundation – first impressions

product review

I joined Glamour Beauty Club online a few months ago, and surprisingly, have received two great products in the post since. Last week I was fortunate enough to receive a (rather large) sample of Dior’s newest foundation; the Forever Undercover foundation boasts a 24 hr full coverage. Does it live up to its claims?

The Performance & First Impressions

Firstly, I would like to advise any fellow beauty bloggers to sign up to Glamour Beauty Club. As you will know, unless you have several PR companies consistently fighting to mail you products, (we aren’t all that lucky). It can get very expensive when you keep buying the latest products just to produce blog content. It’s handy being sent free products to test – and gives a helping hand in producing content for both social media and your blog.

I’m not really a full coverage gal if I’m honest. On a daily basis I’ll wear a light Serum foundation for work. However this Dior foundation gives excellent coverage, without the heaviness that often comes with full coverage foundation. It isn’t thick or cloggy (I think I just legit invented a word), it is light on the skin but covers all imperfections. I have rather large, open pores on my right cheek. Probably an after effect of battling acne for the last ten years. And I struggle to cover them, even with a decent primer on before foundation application. The Dior Forever Undercover managed to fill them in and give a flawless finish. (See picture below).

It smells divine when you apply it, and has that luxury feel that you would expect from a £34.00 foundation. I’d be happy to wear this daily, and on a night out. As for the claim of lasting 24 hrs, I’m not nasty enough to leave my foundation on for that long. Although it did last all day without any signs of wear on my face (8 hours or so). Overall, I’d say that the foundation is great, but there are other foundations on par quality wise that are slightly cheaper.

(I know I’ve got a filter on my mush, but this foundation did give a matte, flawless finish💜)

The Ordinary cont. Serum Foundation & Silicone Primer review

product review

Continuing on from my last post, (no I promise I’m not being paid to promote the Deciem brand), I wanted to write about The Ordinary’s serum foundation and silicone primer.

The search for a perfect foundation is literally like trying to find a needle in a haystack; and believe me I have tried everything from Rimmel to Chanel. Before trying The Ordinary’s Serum Foundation I had given up. I was using a Dr Manuka BB cream which gives a light natural coverage, and I was rather content with that. But this foundation has completely changed the game. First of all it’s £5.70. It has an amazing amount of shades, catering for everyone. And the blend. Ahhhh the blend is something else. It doesn’t even look as if I’m wearing make up, it blends right into my skin. Any of the Deciem technicians can colour match you at their store (my shade is 1.2p with pink undertones for reference). It gives an absolutely flawless, natural finish.

I have been using the High Adherence Silicone Primer (£3.90!) along with the foundation, and they work so well together. You can wear it alone, or under make up. I know some bloggers have said it was too dewy for their liking, but I really like it. Unlike some other primers that claim to be ‘matte’, and then completely dry your skin out like a sponge – it’s moisturising but gives a nice naturally smooth texture to the skin.

Overall I would highly recommend these two products, they are stunning and amazingly cheap. Again, far from Ordinary.

Sometimes you have to believe the hype

product review

image  I waited so long to get this foundation. Honestly. Literally months. And I’m usually not the type to wait for what I want. But forking out 36.50 for something that’s not Chanel was painful. (Well it wasn’t actually because I waited until I received it as a present).

I wanted to slate this foundation so bad. I refused to believe all the glowing reviews. What’s so special about this foundation? Does it give you like, brand new skin!?

I regret to inform you all that, no it doesn’t give you new skin. However it makes your current skin look better then it ever has before. The way it blends and adapts to your natural skin colour is breath taking. It looks as though I haven’t even put foundation on.

So this time, and this time only I’m going to justify believing the hype. Buy. It. Now.
