Christian Dior Forever Undercover foundation – first impressions

product review

I joined Glamour Beauty Club online a few months ago, and surprisingly, have received two great products in the post since. Last week I was fortunate enough to receive a (rather large) sample of Dior’s newest foundation; the Forever Undercover foundation boasts a 24 hr full coverage. Does it live up to its claims?

The Performance & First Impressions

Firstly, I would like to advise any fellow beauty bloggers to sign up to Glamour Beauty Club. As you will know, unless you have several PR companies consistently fighting to mail you products, (we aren’t all that lucky). It can get very expensive when you keep buying the latest products just to produce blog content. It’s handy being sent free products to test – and gives a helping hand in producing content for both social media and your blog.

I’m not really a full coverage gal if I’m honest. On a daily basis I’ll wear a light Serum foundation for work. However this Dior foundation gives excellent coverage, without the heaviness that often comes with full coverage foundation. It isn’t thick or cloggy (I think I just legit invented a word), it is light on the skin but covers all imperfections. I have rather large, open pores on my right cheek. Probably an after effect of battling acne for the last ten years. And I struggle to cover them, even with a decent primer on before foundation application. The Dior Forever Undercover managed to fill them in and give a flawless finish. (See picture below).

It smells divine when you apply it, and has that luxury feel that you would expect from a £34.00 foundation. I’d be happy to wear this daily, and on a night out. As for the claim of lasting 24 hrs, I’m not nasty enough to leave my foundation on for that long. Although it did last all day without any signs of wear on my face (8 hours or so). Overall, I’d say that the foundation is great, but there are other foundations on par quality wise that are slightly cheaper.

(I know I’ve got a filter on my mush, but this foundation did give a matte, flawless finish💜)

Murad Professional Eye Lift Firming Treatment review

product review

There is a certain element of trust when it comes to purchasing anti ageing skincare products. Naturally, you will not be able to view any results immediately. We place an immense amount of trust into products and brands, believing their creams and potions will be the fountain of youth.

Although I am only 25 (and I feel 19 let me tell you), I feel this is the appropriate age to start taking care of my skin. Beginning to ward off wrinkles.

My under eye area has always been a concern for me. I have severe dark circles, and so when applying make up I tend to over conceal them. I am aware that dragging this sensitive area may cause premature wrinkles. Furthermore, overloading the concealer draws attention to fine lines. I am caught in this vicious cycle of attempting to cover the dark circles; whilst potentially causing further damage and premature wrinkles. I have been scouring the shelves for a beauty product which can renew my under eye area.

And to my utter amazement, I have found an eye firming treatment that actually works.

Performance

Okay so the Murad Professional Eye Firming Treatment is not cheap, at £55 per 30ml – you may already be reconsidering.

However the results should convince you otherwise. The products works with the pads which are included with the treatment cream (as pictured).

You firstly apply a generous amount of the cream to your under eye area. Next you apply the pad which sticks to the cream, and pat on in a massaging motion. You leave the pad under your eyes for around 10-15 minutes.

The results are instantaneous. The under eye area feels tight and taut. I believe the effects of this cream are comparable to salon treatments and aesthetics that you would pay considerably more for.

Overall

The entire experience of using this product is enjoyable. It forces you to make time for yourself. To sit down, forget the world and focus on yourself. Whether it’s only 10 minutes or 20, setting time aside for yourself can be so beneficial to your overall happiness and mood.

In a world where social media rules, in a society where depression and anxiety is rife, it is mandatory to self heal. The Firming Eye treatment gives you a personalised spa treatment in the comfort of your home; the after results are amazing, so amazing you’ll forget that you are spending over £50! Do you need any more reasons to invest?!

Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara: Influenster Vox Box review

product review

I’ll be totally honest here, I have no clue how to use Influenster. Perhaps I’m just getting old (25, quarter of a century I’ll have you know), some of this technical social media online stuff I just have no clue about. I had been playing around with it, posting random reviews of cleaning products (how glamorous) and make up I had used many moons ago. But didn’t think much of it, however last week I received my first Vox Box from Influenster.

Amazingly, my first box *which was received for complimentary purposes* was from Marc Jacobs Beauty. It certainly looked the part. It was their new Velvet Noir Mascara. It appeared luxuriant, with it’s classy monochrome design.

Does it perform as well as it looks?

The mascara has a rather large brush, and in this case size does matter. The width of the brush allows you to apply the mascara efficiently and equally.

The mascara ensures that lashes look naturally long, and are far from clumpy. There is one criticism – I did notice that it’s difficult to build up the layers, whereas with similar high end mascaras you can build layers for more volume quite easily. Is it worth the £22 price tag? I’d say, if you don’t own any other high end mascaras then invest in this one. If you do, then it isn’t really worth it; it’s not particularly special for the price. I believe you can get better. But it isn’t half bad either! And it’s a lovely producy aesthetically, it will look great on your dressing table.

Overall : 8/10

Beauty Blog Collective: an intro

Events & launches

As some of you may or may not know (I have mentioned briefly in the past), I used to write and review beauty products for Really Ree. However, a couple of weeks ago myself and the other contributors were sent a message explaining that Ree no longer wanted us to write for her. She was changing the direction of the website, and wanted to focus solely on her reviews.

We had a fantastic time reviewing products for the site; receiving some amazing products and receiving exposure from one of the biggest beauty blogs in the UK! A truly great experience.

After some consideration, we decided that we weren’t done with it. It wasn’t the end for us, seven of us decided to create our own beauty blog. Beauty Blog Collective is now up and running, at its humble beginnings just yet…but we’ve got amazing plans on the horizon.

It’s really inspiring to work amongst such hard working women. We’re all extremely, terribly busy people – but we all seem to manage to find time to do what we love. Beauty is a passion that we share, and we’re all normal women. That is exactly what we aim to represent, different types of women who have a passion for beauty.

Here’s to the future! 🥂

Missbeez – an innovative mobile beauty app

Events & launches

You’ve all heard about the recent disaster that is TFL refusing to renew Uber’s contract in London? Of course you have.

But I’m not here to discuss that scandal. Uber is that reliable taxi every Londoner loves on a boozy night out. What could be more convenient than a taxi at your service at low prices? Uber changed the face is transpiration, I’m convinced there will be an entire  generation of people who do not possess driving licences. Simple because a hybrid mixture of public transport and Uber’s are much cheaper than driving in London. Uber tapped into an on demand market.

So what’s even better than on demand transport? On demand make up and beauty services of course 😍. Missbeez is an app that encorporates just that. You pick the service which you desire, the app searches for relevant beauticians in your local area – you pick one, and you don’t need to pay until after the treatment is carried out.

I recently had a full face of make up applied by one of their beauticians, all in the comfort of my own home. It’s a brilliant idea for busy individuals – you can book services at the drop of a hat.

I would recommend this app to every avid beauty fan. You can pick from an array of salon services at regular prices, with the added benefit of not moving from your bedroom.

Laziness, and beauty treatments on demand!? Sounds like a dream world to me!

Mary Kay’s believe + wonder collection + gel semi-shine lipsticks review

product review

On Wednesdays we wear pink 💅🏻

I’m so excited about Mary Kay’s new collection, the believe and wonder collection is based around inspiring positivity. What could be better than sweet pink products and positivity!?

They are a new collection of bath and body items, each collection contains a shower gel, body lotion and fragrance mist. I’ve got the paint the sky collection, they smell insanely sweet (which I love, all my go to fragrances are sickly sweet). There are notes of vanilla, velvet musk and pink grapefruit which provides a refreshing sweet smell perfect for summer. Because, in England we can’t guarantee the weather – but at least we can smell summery!

Instantaneously I have been reviewing their new lipstick range, gel semi-shine lipsticks. I have been using a nude and red shade (perfect for me because I’m way too into my comfort zone to branch out to any other colours). Also perfect for me because my lips get insanely dry using matte lipsticks, it literally drives me insane on a daily basis. Most of the time my exterior looks normal, in my mind my lips feel like an actual sand pit. It’s hard being me.

Gel has long been discovered for nails – but not so much for lips. So when I discovered these gel lipsticks I could not wait to try them out.

Swatches of ‘Naturally Buff’ & ‘Red Smoulder’

These lipsticks are legit my new go to. Whilst they maintain colour throughout the day – they are moisturising without being overly glossy. You don’t want to look like a 90’s rendition of Lil Kim after all…

These amazing lipsticks are available in 12 shades! Get yours now. 💋💅🏻💋💅🏻

Makeup revolution lip kit review & worst of July

product review

As a beauty reviewer you always have to try your utmost to be as honest as possible. And to be fair, I’m an understanding individual – it’s rare for me to write a bad review. I may mention some negative points, but I try to be as considerate as possible. But occasionally there are just some products you really do not get on with. And this week I have come across two. I decided I had to share with everyone so nobody else had to make the mistake of wasting their time and money! (Not to mention the dreams I was sold)

First up we have Superdrug’s make up revolution lip contour kit in ‘Reign‘. Granted the kit includes a lip liner and lipgloss, and it’s only £6. Amazing value I hear you say. Nope. Nah uh. Because I was completely mislead, firstly am I right in thinking the colour on the box shows a pinky nude tone? Well much to my surprise, when I applied the lip liner it was orange. Yes orange. Coral orange to be exact, I mean yes people have different skin tones so I know some shades can vary a little. But this was so far from nude I wanted to cry at my sheer disappointment. The consistency was something else as well, let me tell you – it was like superglue. So people, if you think of buying this lip kit, please do swatches beforehand. And use a lipgloss. Or carmex. Or WD40. Your going to need it.

Next awesome product of the month is this Vaseline stick (I don’t know how else to describe it). The only good thing about this is the added SPF. I brought this admittedly because it was cheap, at £2. However I swear to you, it does nothing. Gives no mousturisation whatsoever. I would be better off pouring a glass of water over my lips. And I invested because the good ole Vaseline pots always work, they aren’t the best lip balm in the world – but they do the job for the low price category. Honestly, do not bother buying this it’s god awful.
